A Prayer for Our Nation as We Approach General Elections 2021

Good and Gracious God,

As our General Elections approach we turn to you seeking wisdom, guidance and insight. 

Deepen within each member of our electorate the understanding of what a solemn privilege and duty it is to exercise the right to vote.

May we do so peacefully and with sound judgment.

By the grace of your Holy Spirit may each of us come to a fuller understanding of the critical issues and concerns confronting our nation at this time. Aided by your Holy Spirit, may we see more clearly how the Gospel compels us to respond as faithful citizens.

We ask for eyes that are free from blindness so that we may see each other as equal in dignity as children of God.  May our love for You, Lord, be manifested in our respect and stewardship for the environment.

We ask for minds open to reason and truth and for hearts filled with love for the truth.  We ask for leaders whose values and virtues bring us closer to your Kingdom.

We pray for discernment that we may choose, to govern us, leaders who hear your Word, who live in your love and remain in the ways of your truth.   May they follow in the steps of Jesus, our Redeemer, and guide us to your Kingdom of Truth, Justice and Peace.

May our General Elections be orderly and peaceful.  At this time of pandemic may our elections also be safe as we diligently and responsibly observe all the necessary health and safety protocols.

Lord God, bless The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and all our people. Deepen our love and respect for one another so that at the end of this exercise in democracy we remain "One People United In Love and Service." 

May your name always be holy among us.

We ask this through Jesus Christ your Son and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
